Occupational Therapist Observation Experiences

As a MSOT hopeful, I get the opportunity to shadow therapists in my area in order to gain a greater understanding of occupational therapy as a profession.

The first therapist I worked with is employed in an elementary school setting. Her primary focus was on development of hand strength for penmanship and improvement of social behavior. From this experience, I have seen the level of patience required in working with children, and I have employed similar techniques when working with my athletes at Whitman Swim Club.

Working with occupational therapists has opened my eyes and given me an even greater appreciation for the work they do. I have learned so much from the interactions I have witnessed, and I am beyond thrilled to begin my journey towards my career in occupational therapy!
